Sally called when she got the word

샐리가 소문을 듣고 전화를 했어

And she said 'I suppose you've heard, about Alice'

 " 너도 앨리스에 대해 들었지?" 라고 하더군

Well I rushed to the window, and I looked outside

난 창문으로 달려가서 밖을 바라봤어

But I could hardly believe my eyes

하지만 내 눈을 믿기 힘들었어

As a big limousine rolled up into Alice's drive

앨리스네 집 앞으로 커다란 리무진이 들어오고 있었지 

 

I don't know why she's leaving, or where she's gonna go

그녀가 왜 떠나려는지, 어디로 가는지도 모르겠어

I guess she's got her reasons but I just don't wanna know

그녀 나름의 이유가 있겠지만 난 알고싶지 않아

'caus for 24 years I've been living next door to alice

난 24년동안 앨리스와 이웃으로 살았거든

 

24 years just waiting for a chance

24년동안 기회를 기다렸어

To tell her how I feel and maybe get a second glance

그녀에게 내 느낌을 말하거나 그녀를 힐끔 볼 수 있을까 해서

Now I gatta get used to not living next door to Alice

이제 난 앨리스가 이웃에 살지 않는것에 익숙해져야해

 

We grew up together, two kids in the park

우린 함께 자랐고, 두 아이들은 공원에서

Carverd our initials deep in the bark, me an' Alice

이니셜을 나무 껍질에 깊이 새겼어, 나와 앨리스

Now she walks through the door, with her head held high

이제 앨리스는 문을 나서고 있어, 얼굴을 높이 치켜들고

Just for a moment I caught her eye

아주 잠깐동안 그녀와 눈이 마주쳤어

As the big limousine pulled slowly out of Alice's drive

커다란 리무진이 천천히 앨리스네 집을 빠져나갈 때

 

 

Then Sally called back, and asked how I felt

그리고 샐리에게서 다시 전화가 와 내가 어떤지 물었어

And she said, "I know how to help get over Alice"

그녀는 말했어,"앨리스를 잊어버리도록 도와 줄 수 있어"

Sha said, "Now Alice is gone, but I'm still here

"지금 앨리스는 가버렸지만, 난 아직 여기 있잖아"

You know I've been waiting 24 years..."

"나도 24년동안 기다려 왔다구"

And the big limousine disappeared

그리고 커다란 리무진은 사라져 버렸어

 

But I'll never get used to not living next door to Alice

하지만 난 앨리스가 이웃에 살지 않는것에 익숙해질 수 없어

No, I'Il never get used to not living next door to Alice

안돼, 난 절대 앨리스가 이웃에 살지 않는 것에 익숙해질 수 없어
